when systems get oversimplified to βautomation and efficiency,β people get left behind, and your craft erodes
We get that weβre not the only operations consultancy around the block. But amidst all the noise of productivity hacks, AI blueprints, and automate-at-all-costs playbooksβ¦
Weβre exclusively the first to stand by our belief that maintaining quality work as you scale will always require a people-first environment.
WHAT WE BELIEVE IN
01. joy in discernment
Who we are, our goals, and the way we work best should shape what we build, not trends or algorithms.
We lean into curiosity, but we let our values and operating principles be the compass.
02. making room for being human
We design systems and experience with people in mind and make space for play, rest, and genuine connection along the way.
We believe that the best businesses let it show that thereβs a real human working behind the scenes.
03. learning opportunities
We embrace being scrappy at first and look for small wins that create momentum.
Every idea, mistake, and experiment has something to teach only if youβre open to learning from it.
hi, iβm ghalizha!
FOUNDER AND CHIEF SYSTEMS STRATEGIST AT DOC DAY AFTERNOON
I went through formal training in visual, spatial, and systems thinking, so you donβt have to.
Iβm a systems + operations strategist helping thoughtful founders and creators bring more clarity and intention into the way their business runs behind the scenes.
But I wasnβt always!
My previous career was in location intelligence (a fancy word for interpreting raw geographic data to get insights for urban planning, environmental actions, and more).
I spent years being trained to transform data into maps, understand how human-made and natural systems interact, and identify where our actions can have the most meaningful impact.
Somewhere along the line, I pivoted to systems for businessesβ¦
β¦and started doc day afternoon
To this day, it still feels incredibly rewarding to see my two career paths collide.
doc day afternoon exists to help business owners show up for the people they serve by safeguarding a high standard of work with the help of thoughtful systems.
what does doc day afternoon mean?
Itβs a playful nod to Sidney Lumetβs Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and one of my favorite films of all time.
But most importantly, to me, itβs a living and breathing reminder that thereβs no one-size-fits-all approach to running a business.
If building around what I love makes the work more alive, more energizing, and more me, thatβs your permission to do the same!
βMaps are the most important documents in human history. They give us tools to store and exchange knowledge about space and place. [β¦] We are meaning makers, and a sense of place is central to meaning-making.β
