hi, i’m ghalizha!

I went through formal training in visual, spatial, and systems thinking so you don’t have to.

I’m a designer and systems + operations strategist helping thoughtful founders and creators bring more clarity and intention into the way their business runs behind the scenes.

But I wasn’t always am!

With my fancy BSc in location intelligence, I spent years being trained to transform data into maps, understand how human-made and natural systems interact, and identify where our actions can have the most meaningful impact.

Somewhere along the line, that kind of systems thinking ended up being surprisingly relevant to running a business.

Maps are the most important documents in human history. They give us tools to store and exchange knowledge about space and place. […] We are meaning makers, and a sense of place is central to meaning-making.

Brené Brown, in her book Atlas of the Heart

it all started with my love for maps.

I started my career first as a faculty research assistant, then in a B2B map tech company supporting enterprise clients and partners. Most of my days were spent writing documentation, onboarding partners, and creating educational materials that help them sell our products better.

When I began designing Notion workspaces in 2021 for community builders and course creators, I saw how so many of the principles and frameworks from my formal education applied way beyond just mapping tools and designing client experiences. It opened my eyes to new ways of thinking about what it means to build systems for intentional, resilient, and values-led businesses.

While I’m no longer mapping trends or cities, my current body of work still involves helping business owners map systems and strategies within their digital ecosystem. But now, instead of connecting dots and lines, I turn their most ambitious (often-messy-at-first ideas) into something clear, functional, and actually doable.

That’s my superpower: bringing vision to life!

that’s why i started doc day afternoon.

To this day, it still feels incredibly rewarding to see my two most defining career paths collide.

That’s the energy I bring into this work. When business owners get clear on what truly matters to them and use that as a blueprint for how they want to live and work, they become more empowered to engage in purposeful work and make profitable business decisions that align with their values.

Doc Day Afternoon exists to help business owners show up for the people they serve by becoming the best version of themselves with the help of thoughtful systems and experience design.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

01.

JOY IN DISCERNMENT

Who we are, our goals, and the way we work best should shape what we build, not trends or algorithm. We lean into curiosity, but we let our values and operating principles be the compass.

02.

MAKING ROOM FOR BEING HUMAN

We design systems and experience with people in mind and make space for play, rest, and genuine connection along the way. We believe that the best businesses let it show that there’s a real human working behind the scenes.

03.

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

We embrace being scrappy at first and look for small wins that create momentum. Every idea, mistake, and experiment has something to teach only if you’re open to learning from it.

what does doc day afternoon mean?

Let’s be real, it’s a playful nod to Sidney Lumet’s Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and one of my favorite films of all time.

But most importantly, to me, it’s a living and breathing reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to running a business.

If building around what I love makes the work more alive, more energizing, and more me, that’s your permission to do the same!

who i am outside work

Just someone who loves being silly on screen, off screen, and behind the Notion dashboards.

When I’m not working or tinkering with Notion, you’ll probably find me hopping from one coffee shop to another, sneaking into matinee showings in broad daylight, or furiously highlighting everything in my books and connecting the invisible dots.

I’m based in Jakarta, Indonesia but I love spending summers in the U.S. meeting clients, sharing stories over lunch, and turning online relationships into real-life friendships.

I hope I get to meet you - and maybe even take you to the movies. 🍿

i’d love to know you!
